David W. Boyd, MAI manages the commercial appraisal department, Stephen M. Schmidt, SRA manages the residential appraisal department, and William H. Brannum, GAA manages the eminent domain appraisal department. The firm employees five staff appraisers and administrative support. We also employ several independent contractors to accommodate increases in work volume.
David W. Boyd, MAI - has over 24 years of experience in the field of real estate appraisal. He has been in South Florida for the last 20 years, with the majority of the appraisal assignments being within Palm Beach and Broward County. David manages the commercial department of the firm and handles a wide variety of commercial assignments. Experience includes appraisals of vacant land; agricultural properties, with specific knowledge of sugar cane and citrus groves; warehouse properties, office/flex properties, single and multi-tenant office buildings, existing and proposed retail developments, restaurants, apartment complexes, condominium developments and residential developments. Areas of expertise included single family residential developments including, stand alone subdivisions, as well as large scale PUDs and agricultural properties. David has previously qualified as an expert witness in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties.
Stephen M. Schmidt, SRA - has over 25 years of experience in the appraisal of residential properties. The last 24 years have been in Palm Beach County. Steve manages the residential department for the firm and handles a wide variety of residential assignments. Experience includes appraisal of all aspects of single family residences ranging from small affordable housing units to high-end estates, vacant land, all types of duplex, triplex and quadraplex units, as well as multiple parcels being considered for eminent domain. Steve has served as a Special Master for Palm Beach County Clerk of the Circuit Court's Value Adjustment Board since 1990.
William H. Brannum - has over 19 years of experience in both residential and commercial properties with specialized experience in the field of eminent domain. Bill manages the eminent domain department for the firm and handles a wide variety assignments for both the condemning authority as well as the property owners. Experience includes appraisals of all types of vacant land, agricultural properties, warehouse properties, office buildings, retail developments, restaurants, apartment complexes and single and multi-family residences, as well as a pipeline corridor. Bill is qualified as an expert witness in several counties within the State of Florida and is familiar with case law.
David J. Loss, MAI - has 26 years of experience of residential, industrial and commercial properties with specialized experience in the field of eminent domain. Dave manages the firm’s office in Sarasota, Florida and handles a wide variety assignments for both the condemning authority as well as the property owners. Experience includes appraisals of all types of vacant land, agricultural properties, warehouse properties, office buildings, retail developments, restaurants, night clubs, apartment complexes, single and multi-family residences, hotel/motels, car dealerships, auto repair shops and convenience store/gas stations. Dave is qualified as an expert witness in numerous counties within the State of Florida and is familiar with case law.
Luke A. Mittner - is a senior appraiser with the firm and has over 10 years of commercial appraisal experience in Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Luke has also assisted Bill Brannum in several eminent domain valuation assignments in other counties throughout Florida. Luke is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. In addition, Luke has a Masters Degree in Real Estate with an emphasis in appraisal from the University of Florida.
George A. Malarkey - is an associate with the firm and is a State Certified Residential Appraiser with over 12 years experience in single family homes, multi-family income properties and vacant land in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and has an Associate in Arts Degree in Business Management and an Associate in Science Degree with Honors in Psychology. George is a Florida Licensed Realtor, Mortgage Broker and an Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute.
Neil A. Stein - is an associate with the firm and is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He majored in finance and real estate and has an extensive background in accounting. He is an associate member of the Appraisal Institute.
Angela L. Hobbs - an associate with the firm, is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and has been with Boyd, Schmidt & Brannum since 2002. Her experience includes appraisals of vacant land, existing and proposed residential subdivisions, retail developments, office buildings and warehouse buildings. She also has a diverse background in real estate construction and engineering.
Dan Griffin - joined the company in 2006 and is being trained by David Boyd. He is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science in Real Estate.
